About The Flower Smiths
33 years ago I had a eureka moment and decided to become a florist. I approached Moyses Stevens and was thrilled when they agreed to take me on at the age of 22. Having originally trained in theatre it was a joy to find a way to portray drama and colour through flowers.
Theatre, film, literature and nature continue to inspire me and I interpret this in my floristry. I have been blessed with my floral journey, beginning in London, taking me via Paris and America where I worked for Disney, I now find myself in the beautiful Tamar Valley in Devon.
Education is really important to me and I trained with the British Academy of Floral Art who has mentored me through the British and American Masters qualifications and encouraged me to enter the RHS Chelsea Flower Show where I achieved a gold medal. I now have the privilege to tutor for them and guide the next generation of florists.
The necessity for the Flower Smiths came about when I was injured whilst working for a client during a busy Christmas period, highlighting the need for a team of talented and reliable florists to help and support each other.
With this in mind I founded the Flower Smiths. Where talented, qualified florists with a real understanding of design, many of whom have trained with the British Academy of Floral Art, have a useful supportive network, and where those seeking the services of a good florist, can find them.
